Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today sought support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the development in the country’s energy sector.

Big-deal Tk 15.52b loan for Orion solar project blocked
Everything was set to approve a loan worth Tk 15.52 billion for Orion solar-power project bypassing certain conditions, including the single-borrower exposure limit. But following the change of government through student-people uprising the Financial Institution Division of the Ministry of Finance refused to give the approval at the last moment, thereby saved the country's banking from witnessing yet another loan scam.

A much awaited slash in fuel prices
In a bid to bring down and control commodity prices, the Interim Government's Energy Division has slashed and re-adjusted fuel oil prices in line with international prices from Saturday, 31 August. A notice released on the same day said, prices of petrol and octane were cut by Tk 6 per litre, while diesel and kerosene dropped by Tk 1.25 per litre.
