Barishal 40 MW Diesel Power Plant, also known as Barishal GT Power Station, is a Gas Turbine (GT) power plant situated in near Dopdopiya, old ferry ghat under Barishal sadar Upazila in Barishal District of Bangladesh (Location: 22.6577, 90.3404). It is sponsored by Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) as a State-owned Power Plant (SOPP) for 25 years. The first unit (20 MW) of the power plant started commercial operation on 5 August 1984 and the second unit (20 MW) on 4 October 1987. As per the schedule, it is to retire on 3 October. But the power plants were phased out on 30 June 2020 after 36 years of operation.
