Khulna 110 MW (KPCL) HFO Power Plant (Unit 1)

Khulna 110 MW Furnace Oil Power Plant, also known as KPCL Khulna Power Plant (Unit-I) or KPCL-I, was a reciprocating engine-based barge-mounted power plant situated in Goalpara under Khalishpur thana in Khulna city of Bangladesh (Coordinates: 22.8524, 89.5529). It was sponsored by Khulna Power Company Limited (KPCL), a Joint Venture Company (JVC) of Summit Group and United Group, as a Private Independent Power Producer (IPP) for 15 years. The sponsor declared its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on 12 October 1998 and, as per the schedule, the power plant was to retire on 11 October 2013. But the government extended the tenure for another period of five years. At last, it retired on 11 October 2018.


Capacity

The installed (gross) and derated (net) capacity of the power plant is 114 MW and 110 MW respectively.
