Current Status: Operation
Purbachal 55 MW Furnace Oil Power Plant, also known as Kanchan 55 MW Power Plant or X Index Purbachal Power Plant, is a reciprocating engine-based power plant situated in Murapara under Rupganj Upazila in Narayanganj District of Bangladesh (Location: 23.8198, 90.5479). It is sponsored by Kanchan Purbachal Power Generation Limited (KPPGL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of X Index Energy Limited under X Index Group, as a private Independent Power Producer (IPP) for 15 years. The sponsor declared its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on 20 December 2021 and, as per schedule, the power plant will retire on 19 December 2036.

The installed (gross) and derated (net) capacity of the power plant is 56.7 MW and 55 MW respectively.
