Furthermore, by 2027, the ongoing construction of 13 power plants will augment the country’s power generation capacity by a substantial 10,754 megawatts.
These findings were presented in a report submitted to the parliamentary standing committee on power, energy, and mineral resources recently. As of now, the existing power plants collectively possess a total capacity of 23,871 megawatts of electricity, with a peak production of 15,648 megawatts recorded on 19th April.
The report identifies several power plants set to commence commercial operations this year, including the second unit of the Rampal power plant, the second unit of the Banshkhali power plant, the first unit of the Matarbari Ultra Super Critical Power Plant, the Sreepur 150MW power plant, Summit Meghnaghat Power Plant-2, Unique Meghnaghat Power Plant, and Reliance Bangladesh LNG and Power Limited.
