State-run Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Ltd (RPGCL) invited two fresh tenders and reissued a previous tender to procure three spot LNG cargoes.
The new tenders aim to make purchases for the December 14-15 and December 20-21 delivery windows while the reissued tender is scheduled for the December 7-8 delivery window.
The RPGCL opted for the re-tendering, as only two bidders took part, which falls short of the minimum three required under the Public Procurement Rules 2008.
The volume of each of these three spot LNG cargoes is around 3.36 trillion British thermal units (Btu), while the deadline for submitting bids is November 10.
Bid winners are expected to deliver the cargoes at the Moheshkhali Island in the Bay of Bengal, with options to discharge the cargoes at either of the country's two Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRUs) on the island.
Meanwhile, the Tender Evaluation Committee has found responsive bidders for the previous two spot LNG tenders for November 23-24 and December 4-5 delivery windows, and the award of these tenders is scheduled for later this week.
Bangladesh previously awarded two spot LNG cargo tenders to Excelerate Energy for the November 12-13 and November 16-17 delivery windows at $14.55 per million Btu and $14.65 per million Btu.
Bangladesh has been importing LNG from its two existing long-term LNG suppliers - Qatargas and OQ Trading International for re-gasification at its two operational FSRUs.
