Rooftop solar panels may influence urban temperatures
A recent study reveals that widespread installation of rooftop photovoltaic solar panels (RPVSPs) could cause daytime temperatures to rise while lowering them at night in urban areas.
The research, led by Dr Ansar Khan from the University of Calcutta and co-authored by Scientia Professor Mattheos Santamouris from UNSW Sydney, employed mesoscale simulations to examine the impact of RPVSPs in cities.

Govt opts to import LNG under direct purchase
The advisory committee on government purchase in an online meeting on Thursday approved two proposals for importing two cargoes of liquefied natural gas.
Of them, one will be done under direct purchase and the other under the quotation system, according to the finance ministry officials.

Govt to procure refined oil, crude oil, 1 cargo LNG
The government on Thursday approved separate proposals in principle for procuring refined fuel oil, crude oil and one cargo LNG.
The approvals came from the 6th meeting of the Advisers’ Council Committee meeting on Economic Affairs this year held today virtually with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

Reactor assembly completed at first power unit of Rooppur nuclear plant
In a press release issued yesterday (22 October), Rosatom's Engineering Division said the reactor assembly process comprised the installation of internals, such as a shaft and an enclosure, loading of fuel element simulators, mounting of the protecting tubes unit and the upper block, and installation of sensors of the startup measuring system.

Bids invited to import 3 more LNG cargoes for Nov delivery
State-run Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Ltd (RPGCL) has floated three fresh tenders to purchase three spot LNG cargoes for November delivery.
The bid winners would deliver the cargoes at Moheshkhali island on November 12-13, November 16-17 and November 23-24, and discharge the fuel at either of the country's two floating storage re-gasification units (FSRUs) located on the island.

New gas found at abandoned well in Sylhet
New gas reserve has been found in an abandoned well at Sylhet Gas Field at Haripur of Sylhet.
The Sylhet Gas Fields Limited (SGFL) authorities on Tuesday announced the discovery of gas while renovating an old gas well at Haripur.
Managing Director of SGFL Mizanur Rahman said that new gas has been found after two rounds of workover. The new gas was found at the Well No. 7 of the gas field after completion of the drilling.
