Energy indemnity law repealed
The government has promulgated an ordinance repealing the controversial energy law called ‘Quick enhancement of electricity and energy supply act, 2010’.
A gazette notification was issued on Saturday regarding the promulgation of the ordinance passed on November 28. The repeal ordinance was to be immediately effective.

Matarbari Power Plant resumes production after one-month
Cox's Bazar's Matarbari Coal-based Thermal Power Plant is set to resume electricity production on Saturday (November 30), following a month-long shutdown caused by a coal supply shortage.
The plant recently received 70,000 tons of coal delivered by an Indonesia-flagged ship which docked at its jetty on Wednesday morning. Another shipment of 66,000 tons of coal from Indonesia is expected to arrive on Sunday.

$45.2b required for transition to green energy: SANEM
An investment of up to US$ 45.2 billion is needed to transition to green and clean energy, according to the studies of the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM).
The studies explore three investment scenarios based on least-cost approaches to achieve policy goals. It identifies funding requirements of $36.3 billion, $6.7 billion, and $45.2 billion under different policy scenarios. In the maximum-cost scenario, these figures escalate to $52.1 billion, $9.7 billion, and $64.8 billion.
